Despite its rather humble beginnings as a bar, the Theatre Room is now a perfect venue for lunch over a good book or lively conversation with colleagues.
It was not until 1960 that the Club obtained a liquor license, and a rathskeller offering "Tables for Ladies" was installed on the Ground floor. (Until then Tea and Punch were regarded as proper and sufficient refreshment.) It proved to be an unwise financial venture and was closed after one year.
